People live here.

I kept seeing the same headline, another tanker standoff, another risk premium spike, another red arrow on a map I couldn’t picture. The Strait of Hormuz was a concept, not a place. A chokepoint in a spreadsheet.

I wanted to know what it actually looked like before the headlines, the place where twenty percent of the world’s oil squeezes through a corridor where fishermen used to cast nets at dawn.

The status comes from ship tracking, IMF PortWatch, news headlines and the price of oil. The dispatch under each photo is written by AI and says so.

The dispatch: a short imagined memory written by AI from the day’s signals, labelled as such.
