Digital Love
In early October, Emily Webster and I installed an interactive projection at an event for Gawker, on their rooftop deck in Soho. It was one of their biggest parties of the year, with Samantha Ronson headlining.
Every guest was given headphones that could be tuned to different music channels, so people chose their own music for the night: a “silent event.” With no shared sound, the projection was the visual anchor that kept everyone connected while nobody could talk.

The projection lit the dance floor with blue light. A Kinect camera tracked the guests, and the generative imagery answered with a colourful gradient mapped to each person’s body. It ran in real time for six hours, made for that night only.
