Digital Love

Experiences

In early October, Emily Webster and I installed an interactive projection at an event for Gawker, on their rooftop deck in Soho. It was one of their biggest parties of the year, with Samantha Ronson headlining.

Every guest was given headphones that could be tuned to different music channels, so people chose their own music for the night: a “silent event.” People were listening to different music and couldn't talk, so the projection gave them something to see together.

The projection lit the dance floor with blue light. A Kinect camera tracked the guests, and the projection mapped a color gradient to each person's body. It ran in real time for six hours, made for that night only.
