Emergence

Emergence is a mixed media sculpture created by Sean Montgomery. I worked with Sean and Diego Rioja to create its soundscape.

Emergence is about our connection to life. Our lives start with the first heartbeat and end with the last one, but it’s not something we notice every moment. With this sculpture we tried to visualize the heartbeat and give viewers feedback through sound and vibration.

Viewers really enjoyed it, and found their own ways to interact with it, like trying to get two people’s heart rates at the same time.
